The Brief & Original Website
Mike from EHM asked me to take a look at their existing website, and I immediately spotted a number of design, usability and accessibility issues.
𝑥 The EHM logo was unnecessarily repeated in a number of places. This huge logo was adding nothing extra to the page, and was simply taking up valuable space.
𝑥 The EHM logo at the top of page was unreadable on top of what was a video background.
𝑥 The video background didn’t play on mobile.
𝑥 Numerous other usability issues on mobile.
𝑥 The services subheadings - and subsequent detail when you hovered over the image - were unreadable against the photo background.
𝑥 The contact form didn’t work. Users were entering enquiries but those enquiries were disappearing into the ether.
The Redesign
The Redesign & Deliverables
Here’s what I did to make EHM Sports’ website more usable, accessible, and more aligned to their desired design.
✓ Replaced the huge logo with a sentence that immediately tells the user what the business does.
✓ Removed the video background and replaced with an image that meant the text was readable, as well as resulting in the site loading faster.
✓ Made all pages fully responsive and mobile optimised.
✓ Redesigned the services section to make it much clearer and accessible.
✓ Fixed the contact form - all enquiries now go to all directors email inboxes.
✓ Redesigned the logo, more detail below.
The Branding
The team also asked me to take a look at their logo, and after some discussion, had decided that they wanted some neon incorporating into their branding, as a nod to neon football boots of the players they represent.
Here, you can see the various black and white colour variations I mocked up, along with the chosen blue version in-situ on their email signatures and X (Twitter) and LinkedIn banners.
